2023 Projects
Tree Planting Project

The first stage of the tree removal project was a success and what a difference it made...

Thank you to all the members who helped on the evening of May 26th and the next morning.  Deb & Richard Ponto provided the delicious supper for all of us after we finished for the night,

Especially want to thank Brian Amick & the Burgs for the use of their heavy equipment,

Hole Marker Project

Our stone hole markers were looking a little ruff after 6 years of SD weather!  Gloria Vavra & Tom Mitzel took on the huge task of sanding, painting and resealing all 10 markers.  Can't thank them enough  for the many long hours they spent on this project.

Course Beautification

While we have many who contribute to beautification of the course no one does more or better than Gloria Vavra!  As soon as the snow is gone you can find her out on the Couse most every day.  Weed eating, planting flowers, hauling tree branches, are just a few of her activities...

Tree Fundraising Project

Springs Country Club and Golf Course is known for its nine beautiful, challenging, and tree lined holes.  But, those same trees continue to age and with every passing year, we lose trees due to disease and weather.

The Springs Country Club Board of Directors developed a Tree Action Plan to replace and add additional trees on our Golf Course.  We met with Professor John Ball from SDSU to formalize the plan and determined this project is our top priority in 2023.  Our goal is to begin planting trees this spring, but we need your help.

Thanks to lead gifts from American Bank & Trust and the Wessington Springs Area Community Foundation, we have a great start to our fundraising.  Funds from the 2022 Golfin’ for a Cause Tournament were also directed to the tree project, bringing us to a third of our $20,000 goal. We will purchase larger, more mature trees, which means each tree will cost approximately $500. Will you consider sponsoring a tree?

100% of your donation will be used to purchase, plant and maintain new trees and the removal of trees in poor condition. Remember, every dollar makes a difference and keeps our golf course beautiful not just for today, but for years to come. All donations of $300 or more will be recognized on a plaque in our Club House and you might consider making a gift in honor or memory of a loved one whose name could be included on the plaque.

Donations may be given to any of the Board Members listed below, sent in the self-addressed return envelope, dropped off at American Bank & Trust or by scanning the code below.

Your donation ensures the future beauty and success of our golf course. Thank you for your commitment to Springs Country Club and the Wessington Springs community.

Remember what Confucius said, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago—the NEXT best time is now!”

Thank you,
